Curriculum

CURRICULUM

The curriculum in IDTC Career Center’s dental assistant program focuses on the clinical and administrative aspects of working in a dental office setting, immersing you in the practical aspects of providing dental patient care in a hands-on environment. Upon completion of this program, graduates can take the Registered Dental Assistant Certification Exam through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners to qualify for employment in this field.

To prepare for a vital role in the health care field, IDTC provides comprehensive, knowledge-based training in the following areas:

Employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 7 percent from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for all occupations. The aging population and ongoing research linking oral health and general health will lead to continued increases in the demand for preventive dental services.

WHERE DO REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANTS WORK?

Following successful completion of the dental assistant program and the Certification Examination for Registered Dental Assistants (RDA), graduates can seek employment in a variety of job settings, including:

WHY SHOULD I BECOME A DENTAL ASSISTANT?

One of the most convincing reasons for choosing a career as a Dental Assistant is job security. A successful dental office simply cannot function without a Dental Assistant, so this role will continue to be highly sought after for the foreseeable future. Consider that in 2016 there were 332,000 people working as Dental Assistants throughout the US.
