A financial aid advisor helps current and graduate students pay for their education. The advisor’s main duties are to assess a student’s financial situation by performing different types of analysis, such as need analysis, and developing an aid package that will help the student pay for school. Advisors also certify financial assistance packages and student loans, meet with the students and their fa Goals The most effective advisors assist advisees in effective decision making, thereby contributing to the development of mature and self-directed students. This can be accomplished by: Providing accurate information about institutional policies, procedures, resources, and programs. Assisting students in understanding the nature and purpose of higher education and the value of a general education. Assisting students in their consideration of life goals by relating interests, skills, abilities, and values to careers and the world of work. Assisting students in developing ad educational plan consistent with life goals and objectives (alternative courses of action, alternative career considerations, and selection of course). Assisting students in evaluation or reevaluation of progress toward established goals and educational plans. Assisting students in self-understanding and self-acceptance. Making referrals to other institutional or community support services. IDTC registrar takes care of everything from class schedules to financial assistance. Because the registrar plays such an important role in school life, it’s wise to learn more about the person and his/her office. They register students, record grades, prepare student transcripts, evaluate academic records, assess and collect tuition and fees, plan and implement commencement, oversee the preparation of college catalogs and schedules of classes, and analyze enrollment and demographic statistics. Your first interaction with the registrar will likely be when you register for classes. You will need to pick up a course selection sheet offered by IDTC Career Center. Once you have chosen your course, you will need to visit the registrar's office to make sure that you are eligible to enroll in that class. The registrar can tell you whether you need to meet any prerequisites or do any petitions for your class. Because forms need to be filled out in a timely fashion, the registrar can also help keep you apprised of deadlines, from registering for classes to declaring an area of study and enrolling in programs.
