They may assist a dental operator such as a dentist or others treating dental auxiliary in providing more efficient dental treatment by preparing the patient for treatment, sterilizing instruments, passing instruments during procedures etc.

Most dental assistants work full time. However, nearly 1 in 3 assistants work part time. Some may work evening and weekends.
