Service Description

Academic advising is the process between the student and an academic advisor of exploring the value of a general education, reviewing the services and policies of the institution, discussing educational and career plans, and making appropriate course selections. Goals The most effective advisors assist advisees in effective decision making, thereby contributing to the development of mature and self-directed students. This can be accomplished by: Providing accurate information about institutional policies, procedures, resources, and programs. Assisting students in understanding the nature and purpose of higher education and the value of a general education. Assisting students in their consideration of life goals by relating interests, skills, abilities, and values to careers and the world of work. Assisting students in developing ad educational plan consistent with life goals and objectives (alternative courses of action, alternative career considerations, and selection of course). Assisting students in evaluation or reevaluation of progress toward established goals and educational plans. Assisting students in self-understanding and self-acceptance. Making referrals to other institutional or community support services.


Cancellation Policy

Our goal is to provide quality service to all our students and applicants in a timely manner. Please be aware of our policy regarding missed appointments. Appointment Cancellation When you book your appointment, you are holding a space on our calendar that is no longer available to our other students. In order to be respectful of your fellow mates, please call (469) 299-8974, as soon as you know you will not be able to make your appointment. If cancellation is necessary, we require that you call at least 24 Hours in advance. Appointments are in high demand, and your advanced notice will allow another student access to that appointment time. How to Cancel Your Appointment If you need to cancel your appointment, please call us at (469) - 299-8974 between the hours of 8:30-5:00 PM. If necessary, you may leave a detailed voicemail message. We will return your call as soon as possible. Late Cancellations/No-Shows A cancellation is considered late when the appointment is cancelled less than 1 hour before the appointed time. A no-show is when a student misses an appointment without cancelling.
